Your location is yours.

TrailLink is designed around explicit location sharing. Recording a ride does not automatically broadcast your position to other riders.

What the app stores

• Your account profile, privacy choices, vehicles, rides, saved routes, and content you choose to post.
• GPS points for a ride when you record and sync that ride.
• Short-lived live location only when you explicitly enable sharing for a group ride.
• Basic server security logs needed to operate and protect the service.

Location sharing

Live group-ride sharing is off by default, limited to joined participants, and the server expires each location update after five minutes. Turning sharing off removes the current live-location record.

Map services

The app may request visual map tiles directly from the configured map provider. That provider can receive technical request data such as your IP address and the map tile being viewed. Official Forest Service route queries are made by the TrailLink service and returned with source attribution.

Account control

You can change privacy options in the app. Account deletion disables sign-in and replaces your username, email, profile name, avatar, and coarse location with anonymous values. Ride and community records may remain so shared conversations and safety records are not silently broken; support can assist with a broader data request.

Safety

Map data can be incomplete or outdated. Always obey posted signs, land-manager closures, vehicle restrictions, weather warnings, and local law. TrailLink is not emergency or rescue equipment.

Before public launch, the operator contact and jurisdiction-specific legal notices must be added for the business that publishes TrailLink.
